Just five minutes from Bective House is Bective Abbey. Bective Abbey has a very rich history and is a Cistercian abbey on the River Boyne in Bective, County Meath. The abbey was founded in 1147 and the remaining structure and ruins primarily date back to the 15th century. The site has an onsite car park for visitors, or if you fancy walking, you can easily walk to the Abbey from Bective House.
If you enjoy history, Trim Castle is just 10 minutes away from Bective House. Trim boasts this beautiful castle on the south bank of the River Boyne. The castle took 30 years to build and was completed in 1172 by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath. Trim Castle is famously known for the movie Braveheart where the movie was cast.
